Cherry Smoothie

This Creamy Cherry Smoothie is a nice, refreshing drink to serve during the year round.
 
Total time to cook: 30 minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients:
  1. 2 cups frozen sweet or tart cherries
  2. 1 ripe banana, peeled
  3. 1 cup cherry juice blend, or other juice
  4. 4 maraschino cherries, for garnish
Step Wise Instructions:
  1. Put frozen cherries, banana and cherry juice blend in container of electric blender or food processor.
  2. Cover and process until smooth.
  3. Pour into individual serving glasses.
  4. Garnish with maraschino cherries.
  5. Serve immediately.

  1. 1 oz light rum
  2. 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
  3. 1 tsp Applejack brandy
  4. 1 tsp lemon juice

Step Wise Instructions:
  1. In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine all of the ingredients.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a cocktail glass.

  1. 1-1/4 cup chilled double-strength coffee
  2. 3 tablespoons chocolate liqueur
  3. 2 teaspoons sugar
  4. Chocolate syrup
  5. Desired garnishes

Step Wise Instructions:
  1. Pour coffee into a tall glass over ice. Add chocolate liqueur.
  2. Add sugar and stir until dissolved.
  3. Top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup to taste.
  4. Garnish with a maraschino cherry, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or chocolate shavings if desired.

Cranberry Jelly

Kids love these little Cranberry Jelly, and moms love them because they’re easy to make.

Total time to cook: 45 minutes
Serves: 5

Ingredients:
  1. 2 cups Cranberries
  2. 3 ounces Liquid pectin (regular)
  3. 1 cup Concentrated apple juice
  4. 5 tablespoons Glycerin
  5. 1/4 cup Lemon juice
  6. 1 tablespoon Unfl.gelatin or 2 tb.freezer
Step Wise Instructions:
  1. Wash and pick over cranberries, discarding any that are soft.
  2. Place in a deep saucepan and add fruit juices.
  3. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes, until fruit is soft.
  4. Mash to break up any berries left whole.
  5. Strain in food mill to remove seeds. Return to saucepan and heat to boiling.
  6. Add pectin, glycerin and gelatin, stirring well. Boil for 1 minute.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Skim and pour into hot, sterile pint jars, leaving 1/2 inch at top.
  9. Cap with hot sterile lids.
  10. Process in boiling water bath for 5 minutes after water returns to boiling.
  11. If any jars fail to seal, refrigerate and use within 10 days or freeze for later use.
  12. Makes 3 1/2 cups.

Apple Spice Drink

This is a delicious, fruity iced drink with flavors of apple and lemon.

Total time to cook: 40 minutes

Ingredients:
  1. 3 tsp grated orange peel
  2. 3 cinnamon sticks, crushed
  3. 3 tsp whole cloves
  4. 1 whole nutmeg, crushed
  5. 3 c Apple juice
  6. 6 Cinnamon sticks
Step Wise Instructions:
  1. Combine orange peel, 3 crushed cinnamon sticks, cloves and nutmeg in a small bowl.
  2. Tie dry ingredients in a double thickness of cheesecloth to make a sachet, or secure in a large tea-straining ball.
  3. In a medium pan, simmer apple juice with spices for at least 20 minutes.
  4. Ladle into mugs and garnish each with a cinnamon stick.

This is a really easy recipe for a soothing tea with flavors of ginger, holy basil and anisseds.

  1. ½” piece of Ginger
  2. 3 tsp. of Tea Leaves
  3. ½ tsp. of Aniseeds
  4. 1 tbsp. of Holy Basil
  5. Sugar (to taste)
  6. ¾ cups of Milk
  7. 1 ½ cup of Water
Step Wise Instructions:
  1. Take a sauce pan and put the water on medium heat
  2. Add the crushed ginger, aniseeds and holy basil leaves.
  3. Let the water to come to a boil.
  4. Now add the tea leaves bring to a boil and then let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the team and put it in a tea pot.
  6. Enjoy it with sugar and milk.

Hot Buttered Rum

Nice adult twist to an old time favorite, with butter and Rum. Warms you up right on those frigid evenings.

Ingredients:
  1. 1 c Butter
  2. 1 c Brown sugar
  3. 1/2 c Sifted fruit sugar
  4. 1 t Ground nutmeg
  5. 1 t Ground cinnamon
  6. 2 c Vanilla ice cream, softened
  7. Rum
  8. Boiling water
Step Wise Instructions:
  1. In a small mixing bowl, beat together butter, both sugars and spices until well combined. Beat in the ice cream.
  2. Turn into a 4 cup freezer container.
  3. Seal and freeze.
  4. To serve, spoon about 1/3 cup mix into a mug, add one jigger of rum and 1/2 cup boiling water.
  5. Stir well.

This easy, low-fat recipe yields light and delicious Cherry squash.

Total time to cook: 40 minutes

Ingredients:
  1. 4 c cherries, pitted, sliced
  2. 1/2 c Water
  3. 1/3 c Granulated Sugar
  4. 2 tb Lime Juice, fresh
Step Wise Instructions:
  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water; bring to a boil and cook until sugar is dissolved, about 1 - 2 minutes. Let cool.
  2. Puree the cherries in a food processor or blender until smooth; place in a bowl along with sugar syrup and lime juice.
  3. Pour into an 8-inch square baking dish.
  4. Freeze until nearly solid.
  5. Scoop mixture into a food processor or blender and beat until mixture is smooth, but not melted.
  6. Spoon into dishes and serve immediately.
